Delete your Ghar account

1. Introduction

Ghar (“Ghar App”) is a real estate marketplace and information platform for buyers, sellers, agents, and developers in Nepal.

If you want to delete your account and the personal data we store for you, you can do so inside the Ghar mobile app (Android / iOS) or by email if you cannot access the app.

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.

2. Delete in the app (recommended)

Requirements: You must be signed in to the account you want to delete.

Steps:

  1. Open the Ghar app on your phone.
  2. Go to the Profile tab (bottom navigation).
  3. Scroll to Delete Account (red/delete icon in the profile menu).
  4. Read the warnings about what will be removed.
  5. Type DELETE in the confirmation field (all caps).
  6. Tap Delete My Account.
  7. Confirm again in the dialog (Delete).
  8. You will be signed out automatically when deletion completes.

3. What we delete

When you delete your account, we permanently remove or disconnect:

  • Your sign-in account (email / phone / social login)
  • Profile and personal information (name, photo, bio, phone, etc.)
  • Your property listings (ownership reassigned internally; listings are no longer tied to you as a person)
  • Saved properties and saved searches
  • Messages, conversations, and appointment data tied to your account
  • Notifications and device tokens
  • Uploaded files such as profile images and verification documents (best effort from our storage)
  • Payment metadata that could identify you (sensitive fields scrubbed)

4. What we may keep (legal / compliance)

Some records cannot be fully erased where the law or payment rules require retention. In those cases we remove personal identifiers and replace your user ID with an internal non-login “tombstone” account so data is no longer linked to you as an identifiable person.

We may retain in anonymized or de-identified form:

  • Rental leases, rent charges, and payment transaction ledger rows (for audit, tax, and dispute resolution)
  • Financial records as required by applicable law (e.g. up to 7 years for transaction records in Nepal, per our privacy policy)
  • Aggregated analytics that cannot be traced back to you individually

We do not store full card numbers, CVV, or PIN in our database; payments are processed by third parties (e.g. Stripe, Khalti, eSewa).

5. Timeline

In-app deletion: Processing starts immediately when you confirm deletion in the app.

Email requests: We aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days.

Backups / residual copies: Any remaining copies in backups or logs are purged or de-identified within 30 days of the deletion request, except where longer retention is required by law.

6. Delete by email (if you cannot use the app)

If you cannot sign in, lost your device, or uninstalled the app, email us:

Subject: Account deletion request – Ghar

Include:

  • The email address or phone number registered on your Ghar account
  • A short statement: “I request permanent deletion of my Ghar account and associated personal data.”
  • Optional: reason (not required)

We may ask you to verify ownership (e.g. reply from the registered email or provide information only the account owner would know) before deleting.

We will confirm by email when deletion is complete.

7. Other data rights

You may also (while your account is active):

  • Export your data: Profile → Export Data in the app
  • Update your information: Profile settings
  • Opt out of analytics: Profile → App Settings → disable anonymized usage sharing

8. Children

Ghar is not intended for users under 18. If you believe we collected data from a minor, contact support@gharnpl.com and we will delete it.
